At Nola Pilates, our mission is to provide a strong, healthy future for New Orleans…one mind, one body and one spirit at a time.
Prior to opening Nola Pilates & Xtend Barre New Orleans, Kim spent 17 years working as a registered nurse and business development/marketing administrator in the healthcare industry. A long time student of Pilates, Kim formed a desire to share Pilates with the masses. “I was amazed at what Pilates could do for your body and wanted everyone to have the opportunity to transform themselves in the same way I had.” Her passion for Pilates led her to seek industry leading certifications and empowered her to open her own studio. Kim’s mission was to build a business that would allow everyone the opportunity to experience quality Pilates at an affordable price.
Kim is a comprehensively certified Pilates instructor with Basic Arts & Sciences Institute and a Pink Ribbon Program breast cancer exercise specialist. Nola Pilates & Xtend Barre New Orleans is one of the few studios in the state of Louisiana offering a post-operative breast cancer exercise program. Furthermore, the studio was the first in the country to become a franchise member of the most cutting edge barre program on the market, Xtend Barre.
Kim is married to husband, Jamie, and is the mother of three boys.
A New Orleans native, fitness has always been a part of Alicia’s life, even at an early age. She was a member of the Greater New Orleans Streakers Track club and the Metro Stars. She was a National AAU and Tact track and field champion in the 200m and 400m and a high school district champion in the 400m. Alicia continued her passion for track and field and began training and coaching other youth from various high schools and neighborhood parks in the New Orleans area.
After being approached by her spin instructor in 2010, Alicia decided to become a certified Spinning Instructor through Madd Dogg Athletics. That same year she was introduced to Nola Pilates. “I knew from the moment I walked into the door that this was not just an ordinary studio… something magical was happening here, and I knew that I wanted to be a part of it.”
Alicia began teaching Spin at Nola Pilates and later fell in love with Xtend Barre, leading her to her Xtend Barre certification in 2011. Alicia is also a Comprehensive Pilates Instructor through Balanced Body University, and holds current certifications in ZUMBA , TRX Suspension Training, Personal Training and Group Exercise Instruction, Piloxing and Mind Body Yoga. Prior to teaching yoga, my career was primarily in the not-for-profit arena –fundraising and working with volunteers for several different organizations. While working at a shelter for homeless women, I decided to give yoga a try as a means to relieve stress and alleviate chronic lower back pain. I quickly discovered that yoga did those things and so much more. I was amazed at what the practice did for my mind, body and spirit. I completed my teacher training with Daren Friesen of Moksha Yoga in Chicago in 2010 and have been so fortunate to share my passion with students ever since. My goal is to create an environment for students that is light-hearted, comfortable, and accessible yet challenging for yogis of all levels.

Communications professional by day, Xtender by night! A Louisiana native, Ashley has a lifelong interest in dance, cheer, gymnastics and choreography. While in college at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, she was a former gymnastics instructor. Through the years following college, she’s exhausted nearly every workout format available including weight training, distance running and group fitness classes. In an effort to mix up her workout routine, Ashley discovered Xtend Barre after moving to New Orleans and immediately became “addicted,” especially because it seemed to integrate and compliment many dance principles. Amazed by the results she’s seen, she took on the extra mind-body challenge of becoming an Xtend instructor herself in 2015.

Bobbie grew up in northern Michigan and relocated to New Orleans in 2001 to attend Loyola University. In 2007 she picked up a few Pilates DVD’s with the hopes of balancing out her 25 miles-a-week running routine. Soon she was hooked, and in 2009, began taking Reformer classes at Nola Pilates, where she has been coached by Master Instructor, Laura Romney, for the past five years. She admits that throughout her 20’s she would have done anything to ‘lose weight.’ But, even with all the running, she wasn’t getting the results she wanted. Instead, her body paid the price – at 36, she was diagnosed with arthritis. Her running days were over. As she began to practice the Pilates movement principles in daily life – at home and at the office – she noticed an unexpected benefit: comprehensive pain management, noting that if she ever took more than a few weeks off or let her membership lapse, the pain would always come back. She says, “consistent practice has kept me pain free.

Tess was born in South Carolina, spent her childhood in the south of France, and grew up in Normal, Illinois. She earned her B.A. in Dance Performance and B.A. in Recreation Management from Illinois State University in 2014, and moved to New Orleans just a few days after graduation. She is currently a teacher-in-training with Balanced Body University in the pursuit of a Comprehensive Pilates Instructor certification.
Tess’ appreciation for the Pilates method is summed up in this quote by Joseph Pilates himself: “A few well-designed movements, properly performed in a balanced sequence, are worth hours of doing sloppy calisthenics or forced
contortion.” As a dancer and life-long movement enthusiast, Pilates fulfills her need for a physical challenge while also strengthening the mind-body connection.
Outside of the Pilates studio, Tess is a teaching artist with the New Orleans Ballet Association, instructing children’s ballet and modern dance classes. She is currently performing with Melange Dance Company. Tess lives in uptown New Orleans with her boyfriend Mack, and enjoys traveling, the outdoors, and cooking for her loved ones.
